The Emerging Writer’s Journal

Jacaranda Journal is a biannual literary journal run by emerging editors for emerging writers.

Headquartered at the University of Queensland in Australia, Jacaranda publishes standout works of short fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry from emerging writers across Australia. As a volunteer-run organisation, Jacaranda's mission is to provide a supportive editorial process, as well as an elevated and stylish print and online publication through which their contributors can showcase the full potential of their work to a broad audience. Jacaranda discovers writers from around Australia, connecting them with emerging editors who support them in the publication process and contribute to bridging the gap between university education and industry.

Craft Evolution

Conceptualising and distilling ideas into refined written works is a challenging feat. We value a writer’s craft and our editors contribute to the development of their unique styles over time. We see the beauty in the process and acknowledge originality and budding talent when we see it to bridge the gap between university study and industry.
